The Main purpose of Tamil Nadu Government Rental Housing scheme is to provide the necessary accommodation to the Government servants nearer to their working place to enable them to discharge their official work effectively. As the private house owners demand exorbitant rent, Government quarters are provided to them at concessional rate of rent. Tamil Nadu Housing Board has constructed the above rental quarters and the same are being maintained by them.
At present, 21498 TNGRHS accommodation are available in the state (1673 units in Chennai City and 19825 units in mofussil areas). Allotment is being made by the Government on the rotation basis for the following categories of Government Staff (General turn, Local employee, Better Accommodation, Transferee, Newly Married, widow and Physically Challenged)
Further TNGRHS flats also allotted on the various Quota as follows :
The TNGRHS flats are allotted to Government servants on monthly rental basis as per eligibility of the Government Servant by the Government. Based on the allotment order, TNHB issues provisional allotment order and execute the LCS agreement.
Judicial Staff Reservation : As per G.O.Ms.No.202, Housing and Urban Development (HB 3(1) dept, dated. 23.12.2016, the Government have ordered 15% reservation of TNGRHS Quarters in each type of accommodation in each Scheme in Chennai City and Moffusil areas to the Judicial staff flats which are allotted to the Court staff on monthly rental basis as per eligibility of the court staff by the Registrar, High Court of Madras.
TNHB Staff Reservation : The Government have ordered 3% reservation of TNGRHS Quarters in each type of accommodation in each Scheme in Chennai City and Moffusil areas flats which are also allotted to the Board staff on monthly rental basis as per eligibility of the Government Servant by Government.
TNGRHS Flats in Mofussil areas : The Seniority maintaining and allotment are made by the District Collector / E.E & ADO’s of TNHB concerned.
